David Dixon FAIA
David Dixon FAIA, an urban designer and principal at Goody Clancy, received the American Institute of Architect’s (AIA) 2007 Thomas Jefferson Award for “a lifetime of … significant achievement in advancing the public sector’s mission to create more livable neighborhoods, vibrant civic spaces, and vital downtowns and main streets.” As chair of the AIA’s national urban design committee, David helped organize the Governor’s Conference on Recovery and Rebuilding in New Orleans and subsequently led a national delegation of architects to work with the city’s neighborhoods. He led district planning for one quarter of New Orleans in 2006 and 2007.
Stephen D. Villavaso
Stephen D. Villavaso is a land use/zoning attorney and a city planner specializing in smart growth, comprehensive planning, land use law and zoning with over thirty-five years of experience in the New Orleans area. Steve is an Adjunct Professor at the Department of Planning and Urban Studies at the University of New Orleans teaching Land Use Law, Development Practices and Grantwriting. He is the current President of the Louisiana Chapter of the American Planning Association and a national Fellow of the College of the American Institute of Certified Planners.
LaToya Cantrell
LaToya Cantrell is President of the Broadmoor Improvement Association, leaders of the comeback of a flooded neighborhood which post-Katrina planners early on designated as future green space. Cantrell came to New Orleans from California in 1990 to study at Xavier University. She and her husband became Broadmoor homeowners in 2000. Cantrell is manager of the Greater New Orleans Education Foundation, helping steer private sector resources to public schools.
